The title of the show is drawn from one of Silverman’s favorite poems, Walt Whitman’s “A Noiseless Patient Spider,” in which Whitman describes a spider perched on a branch in the middle of a vast, open space, releasing strands of spiderweb into the air in hopes of having each one catch somewhere. Silverman describes the works in the show, created between 20, as “an exhibition of digital artworks exploring the intersection of order and chaos through themes of technology, faces, machinery, symmetry, and abstract designs.” Silverman is a Hudson Valley artist, designer, and illustrator whose work has been featured by The Chicago Tribune, Vogue, Net Magazine, and Planned Parenthood. The Palmer Gallery is located in the College Center in Vassar’s Main Building.

Lynch has received myriad accolades throughout his decades-long filmmaking career, including three Academy Award nominations, a Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, a Golden Lion award for lifetime achievement at the Venice Film Festival, and two César Awards for Best Foreign Film.

Much like his filmography, Lynch’s artwork is often dark and surreal, carrying a non-linear or non-sensical narrative. The exhibition presents a selection of fine art prints that Lynch created at Tandem Press between 19. The accompanying exhibition, “Enigma: The Prints of David Lynch,” will be on view Sept. The documentary illuminates an expression of David Lynch that is approachable and relatable, even as his art remains enigmatic.

Images of his paintings and prints along with photos and archive materials are shown as Lynch speaks from his home and studio, linking his anecdotes to examples of his artistic practice. Throughout the documentary, Lynch shares stories from his childhood, art school, and the beginning of his filmmaking career. “David Lynch: The Art Life” shares a glimpse into the creative vision of filmmaker and artist David Lynch. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to watch the movie. The documentary will be shown on the lawn in front of the Apex building where Tandem is located, beginning at 7 p.m.

The reception will be held in the Tandem Press Apex Gallery. The reception and screening will take place on Friday, Sept.
